Thank you, Cesar for you wonderful work. I hope you will do something about terrible conditions of shelter around the country??? I wish you could some how establish and franchise dog farms for the millions of dogs that are put down for no reason other, than no one wants them. Also, to establish a spay and neuter program that would make it mandatory if not a licensed and inspected breeder. It breaks my heart all the precious souls that are lost because of human neglect, cruelty and and apathy!
I am truly sorry about the divorce. You have a calling for what you do and the world needs you and more people like you.
I want to say also, that I am terribly sorry about Daddy. I can relate to that and I believe you will see him again.
Keep up your good works. You deserve all the accolades you are presented and more!

I have spent a great deal of time studying wolf pack behavior, and I know from this that Cesar's methods are dead RIGHT. Cesar behaves with his dogs the way the Alpha male of a wolf pack behaves. Calm and assertive is the order of the day. The Alpha does not abuse his pack; after all, most of the members of the pack are either siblings or children.

The perfect synchronicity of the wolf pack as it hunts proves that the members of the pack are communicating with each other at all times, and that most of the communication is body language and "energy". Something as small as the tilt of the head or the height and direction at which the tail is held "speaks" to the other members of the pack.

Assertions that Cesar's methods are cruel are ridiculous. When he reaches behind himself with his foot and taps the dog, he is not "kicking" him. He is touching the dog to bring it out of what I call the "trance state" that over-excited or fearful dogs go into. A dog in a "trace state" cannot hear the human speaking. The touch brings the dog back to the here and now. A short jerk on the leash is used by almost all dog "trainers". I have seen many dog "trainers" jerk a dog almost off his feet with the leash, and this is wrong, but Cesar never jerks the leash up, which can damage the dog's throat, and he never jerks very hard. Once again, this technique, used properly, regains the dog's attention.

I wish that all dog owners, trainers and "behaviorists" had to spend six weeks with Cesar Millan before they could be allowed to even touch a dog. This would ensure that all dogs would be treated with the dignity and respect that this magnificent species deserves.

The problem with some of these comments is that there is a palpable disconnect between "dog people" and non dog people. Dogs are not humans they don't rationalize and reason the same way. A dogs behavior is dictated by generations of wild instinct. The methods of Cesar Milan are not only appropriate but necessary especially when dealing with a very dominate dog.

Have any of the naysayers ever WATCHED the show? There is not one instance in which Cesar uses cruelty, or force, or "hangs" a dog, or even uses a prong collar! The only time he has ever used them is if the owner has been using it, but he eventually switches to his simple leads. I don't know what you all are watching, but its not Cesar! He is a genious in that he is bringing to light all the problems that owners bring to themselves and their dogs, and he has saved countless animals from being euthanized by rehabilitating them. Body language? Yes, the dogs on the program become calm and submissive, not "drooling and fearful" as one post suggests! Get over yourselves, people, and listen to the man's message of enlightenment!

Where to start?? The methods used are based on a study, which was conducted wrongly to begin with, that are decades old and out dated. His idea of calm and submissive behavior is a dog that is confused and trying to calm itself. Anyone with basic dog body language and behavior knowledge can see this. His ideas about pack leading is also based on the same outdated study that involved wolves. Dogs are infact not wolves. That study with wolves wasn't even a pack. Dogs aren't pack animals (studies on feral dogs is where we should be looking to understand the nature of our canine companions should be done). There are far too many people out there watching the dog whisperer out there using Cesar's methods, and showing others how to use them also, without considering other underlining issue such as health. They are just watching an episode with the same behavioral characteristics as their dog and trying Cesar's way to correct their dog without thinking of other issues. Theres a reason for the disclaimer at the beginning, and throughout, the show. Dogs learn by association and to be constantly poked, flooded, and floored is just asking for trouble!!

Whoever made the comment about Cesar using his dog psychology techniques on wolves is a moron. Wolves are not domesticated animals and have not been breed to accept humans. Lions and dolphins are pack animals too, and I don't think anyone is claiming his techniques would work on them. Let's see your techniques work on wolves and you make it out alive. Oh wait, you never claimed it would... Just like Cesar. Moron.

Also, Cesar never claimed to study dog psychology. Not sure why you cannot understand the English words and what they mean. You think you are superior just because you studied Dog Behavior in school, when the reality is that you are envious of someone elses proven success and who knows more than you with much less effort.

Cesars techniques have worked miracles. The proof is right infront of you look at the dogs on the show, and what is this about choke chains? You can't use a regular nylon collar for this because it will damage a dogs wind pipe. A choke chain is the resemblance to getting a correction from their mother. I have a pitbull who I've had since 2008 since she was 6 weeks old and thanks to Cesar I have non stop complements about how well trained my dog is. So you tell me how his methods are cruel and this science crap has nothing to do with it. It's mother nature like Cesar Millan says NOT!!!! A test subject a part of mother nature and he's helping us control our animals and ourselves. Maybe he should teach you a few things, and because if him I want to be a dog trainer myself. And his methods aren't cruel. If you clearly listen to his show he says he DOESN'T use punishment only DISSAPLINE !!!! Because you are to ignorant to notice these facts and the fact that he has helped many people around the world having many successful stories. Your theory is incorrect. That is my opinion.

I love Cesar and all in which he stands for . I have also heard him say " if you have a problem see a dog trainer in your area to get a better relationship with your dog " so to all the people on this page who have said " nothing is better than blah blah training or whatever , I have NEvEr heard Cesar put down another trainer or technique , and I mean really, how much harm can come from relaxing around your pooch ? NONE !! Anyone who thinks he is being to harsh is a fool ! He has never been aggressive !

To NA:

So dogs are ruined because of Cesar's methods? Meaning none of your trainers/behaviourists were able to handle them? Well then, I know someone who can help you with your hard, heavy cases!

You sound very young and naive. Like an 11-year old girl who can't understand why someone would yank the collar of her favourite tv dog. Just the fact that you're comparing dogs and humans proves how confused you are.

I've taken dogs and cats who were going straight for the needle cause their owners didn't want them anymore. They were aggressive, terrified, very nervous. After a few days/weeks, they would feel safe and calm in their environment, and follow me everywhere. I have enough experience to determine what's good and what works. And even though I did see Millan making a mistake on a couple of occasions, the essence of his methods is highly effective and positive.

The kid who thinks "the poor doggy is being mistreated" lacks experience. The adult who thinks the same has serious personal issues.

I don't have any problem believing that Ilusion just wanted a man who was going to be around for her and her kids more. Cesar makes money for the dog center where he helps a lot of animals that would probably be put down by touring. It appears he has to travel for taping often as well. Some women aren't capable of being who they are without a man around. Military wives know going into the relationship that their men will be gone for months at a time. Maybe Ilusion just didn't realize that would be her life. She has every right to divorce him if she wants. Better to have a man who is there for her children than one who is on the road most of the time. Children learn about relationships from their parents and the respect she and Cesar have for themselves will show the kids how to respect themselves as opposed to Ilusion settling for feeling disconnected from her husband's life due to his constant absence. My two cents only.

Every time I see one of these responses about how cruel Cesar is and how outdated and worthless his methods are, all I get from it is how insanely jealous the author is. The insane part is these trainers want to badmouth Cesar, because they want DEPENDENT clients! Traditional Republican thinking. Just like the pharmaceutical companies who keep people sick because curing them would mean they couldn't rape them by forcing them to pay out the wazoo for medication that eventually puts them into monumental debt. THIS IS HOW YOU KNOW CESAR IS THE REAL DEAL - he fixes the problem, then teaches you how to do it yourself. There's no hundreds of dollars having to be spent on constant dog obedience classes. You fix it, it's done. Like Wall Street, traditional dog trainers hate Cesar for showing the world it's not that hard to have a well balanced dog. It's nothing but pure greed to put a dog through weeks and months of training under the guise that it's the human way to do it - that's just keeping the dog unbalanced for a longer period of time. I'm not a dog owner, but after watching Cesar from the start I was able to fix several of my CAT'S bad habits, from crowding the feeding bowl (a big problem with my mobility) to clipping her claws!!! Cats don't give a hoot about what you want them to do, but if you treat them like cats they will respect you! If Cesar's ways work on cats and keep you from having to pay a bunch of money to cat professionals then you know it's the real deal. The animal gets over it quickly and lives a happy, healthy life. If you think Cesar's techniques aren't working, then YOU are the problem. Learn to balance yourself first!

It’s nothing but pure greed to put a dog through weeks and months of training under the guise that it’s the human way to do it – that’s just keeping the dog unbalanced for a longer period of time. I’m not a dog owner, but after watching Cesar from the start I was able to fix several of my CAT’S bad habits, from crowding the feeding bowl (a big problem with my mobility) to clipping her claws!!! Cats don’t give a hoot about what you want them to do, but if you treat them like cats they will respect you! If Cesar’s ways work on cats and keep you from having to pay a bunch of money to cat professionals then you know it’s the real deal. The animal gets over it quickly and lives a happy, healthy life. If you think Cesar’s techniques aren’t working, then YOU are the problem. Learn to balance yourself first!
