Cesar Millan's wife, Ilusion, filed for divorce at Los Angeles court Friday, citing irreconcilable differences. The couple has been married for 16 years and have two children together.
Cesar Millan’s wife, Ilusion, filed divorce papers at Los Angeles court Friday, citing irreconcilable differences.
“We are sad to announce that after 16 years of marriage we have decided to file for divorce. The decision was made after much consideration and time. We remain caring friends, and are fully committed to the co-parenting of our two boys,” Cesar writes.
Ilusion is asking for spousal support and is seeking full custody of the couples’ two children.
Millan is best known as “The Dog Whisperer”, host and co-creator of National Geographic Channel’s Dog Whisperer, where out-of-control dogs and their owner’s are “rehabilitated.” The Dog Whisperer has also co-authored four books, including New York Times #1 Bestseller Cesar’s Way, and New York Times Bestsellers Be the Pack Leader, Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan: The Ultimate Episode Guide, A Member of the Family, and How to Raise the Perfect Dog.
In 2008, Millan and pet supply chain Petco formed a partnership allowing the design, creation, and sales of Millan’s proprietary line of pet products, such as organic dog food, health goods, olfactory toys, treats, leashes, and collars.
Millan is also dog trainer to many notable Hollywood stars, including Will and Jada Pinkett Smith and Charlize Theron.
At age 21, Millan illegally crossed the Mexican border into California. He found work as a pet groomer and quickly became known as someone who could put the most difficult and rambunctious dogs at ease. In 1994, Millan married Ilusion, who according to some, inspired him to expand his clientele and grow his business.

Dear Cesar, I am usually very good at reading body languagel like you, but I read people as well as dogs.
One thing I notice at difference events that you were having a blast and you wife was just there not really enjoying the event as well as you.
I don’t know if it was becasue she couldn’t handle your success well or she didn’t like play second fiddle. But I found it very obvious that she was not really participling in the event with you she was just there becasue I guess she should be.
I have no idea if it was always this way between you two only you know that one. I do wish you both the best and in moving forward find true happiness!!
Two beautiful people who shared one beautiful life and two beautiful boys, nothing and no one can ever change that, sad to see you go your separate ways but sometimes the souls journey takes a different turn to face new challenges and new opportunities, it’s just the way. I would be curious to know if Cheri Lucas had anything to do with why Illusion is divorcing Cesar. I’ve seen pics of her and Cesar on the European tour that’s he’s currently doing and she’s draped all over him in one of the photo’s. I hope I’m wrong but I don’t think so.
As Is true with almost all women….. they want a relationship so that they (the woman) don’t have to think about wanting a relationship (marriage). And as is true with almost all women, as soon as they have the relationship of their dreams, they immendiately begin to focus on everything else in their lives except their relationship. Guys know this….women don’t know this.
Women are by nature dream killers. They say they want this and that and will support common decisions. Unfortunately women, mostly through the fault of poor parenting and ill informed – dare I say ignorant media – find themselves never happy and “it’s never enough”. They want the impossible – everything along with everything. “Of course I want my man to be successful. Just be sure to be home at 5 o’clock, treat me like a princess, play with the kids, take me out and show me off, be romantic, but be sure to be very successful so I can continue to live this lifestyle that you (the man) have provided. When does the man get to enjoy the fruits of his labor.
Honestly when is this society going to wake up and realize that life is not about stuff. It’s a partnership or it’s not. Girls you want a man to be faithful and in love with you forever then by God treat him like a man… not a meal ticket. Act like a woman… not another man.
Caesar you are an awesome inspiration to all of us potential “pack leaders”. And I for one am grateful to you.

I believe that it is moore a question of mission than relationship.
Cesar Millan feels that he has to devote his life to bring peace on this planel through dogs and human rehabilitation.
It is the call of God and he is the channel to express it.
From my point of view, once we overcome jealousy and possessiveness, we are free and the ego doesn’t interfere any longer with our mission.
We don’t have to invest on people or relationships for our security.
The only thing that we have to do is to experiment love and peace that we find within ourselves.
If we reach for our inner peace we will find what our soul wish to express.
And once we experiment inner peace, we realise that love doesn’t need to come from the outside.
Just doing things guided by that love will fulfill your hearth.
You will feel alive like never before and you won’t be afraid of loosing anything because you won’t loose yourself anymoore.
You will always be able to generate love from inside yourself without waiting for anything in return.
That is the true sense of love for me.
I don’t have any problem believing that Ilusion just wanted a man who was going to be around for her and her kids more. Cesar makes money for the dog center where he helps a lot of animals that would probably be put down by touring. It appears he has to travel for taping often as well. Some women aren’t capable of being who they are without a man around. Military wives know going into the relationship that their men will be gone for months at a time. Maybe Ilusion just didn’t realize that would be her life. She has every right to divorce him if she wants. Better to have a man who is there for her children than one who is on the road most of the time. Children learn about relationships from their parents and the respect she and Cesar have for themselves will show the kids how to respect themselves as opposed to Ilusion settling for feeling disconnected from her husband’s life due to his constant absence. My two cents only.

Thank you, Cesar for you wonderful work. I hope you will do something about terrible conditions of shelter around the country??? I wish you could some how establish and franchise dog farms for the millions of dogs that are put down for no reason other, than no one wants them. Also, to establish a spay and neuter program that would make it mandatory if not a licensed and inspected breeder. It breaks my heart all the precious souls that are lost because of human neglect, cruelty and and apathy!
I am truly sorry about the divorce. You have a calling for what you do and the world needs you and more people like you.
I want to say also, that I am terribly sorry about Daddy. I can relate to that and I believe you will see him again.
