Daniel Ortiz has sued Barbra Streisand claiming negligence after falling into a ditch while working on a carpentry job for the singer in 2007.
Ortiz was hired to conduct carpentry work for Streisand’s Malibu, California home in 2007 and claims to have taken a spill into a ditch, badly hurting himself, while “on the job”.
According to Ortiz’s lawsuit, Streisand “failed to take steps to either make the dangerous condition safe or warn Ortiz” of the ditch which he stumbled into while stepping out of a trailer that was kept onsite.
In part, and according to his lawsuit, Ortiz is claiming that his fall caused him “humiliation, fear, discomfort, anxiety, loss of enjoyment of life, mental anguish, and emotional and physical distress.”

Barbra Streisand Sued by Daniel Ortiz
Ortiz is asking for money as compensation for damages.
Clearly this appears to be yet another attempt to extort money from a celebrity. Let’s be honest, how bad of a fall could Ortiz have taken, that (i) didn’t cause excessive injury, and (ii) didn’t even send the carpenter to emergency care of the hospital.
Hopefully justice will be served, and the so-called carpenter will not be compensated for his, what many believe is, false claims. Stay tuned as we will certainly post an update to the outcome of this case.

That carpenter is a moron! He’s obviously looking for a payday and not one associated with the work he’s performed. This makes him a theif! Can you imagine suing someone because you chose the wrong place to place your foot. Maybe if it was.. say a sidewalk, and the city was clearly to blame for not properly finishing it. Or an amusement park that allows you to step out of a roller coaster into a pot hole..?? But this is clearly a jerk trying to sue a celebrity for nothing.
Wow! This is the WORST reporting and commentary I have EVER seen. Let me tell you why: First, the carpenter DID go to emergency care because he fractured bones in his pelvis and legs. He was literally known as one of the best carpenters in the world, and for a time couldn’t perform the work he could before, and lost out on some very high-paying jobs. His medical bills exceed 100,000 dollars. Second, there is horrible tilt in this article and it comes to a conclusion simply based on the fact a lawsuit was filed. If that is true, then every plaintiff would simply be out for money.
Since you also failed to take ANY steps to investigate ANYTHING before writing this, I’ll let you know what I figured out after one phone call. The carpenter is suing the construction company as well (who is owned by Barbra’s brother-in-law). The carpenter fell from a trailer into a ditch after someone on the construction site moved the stairs that led up to the trailer. Meanwhile, the construction company and Barbra misrepresented to the carpenter, a subcontractor, that they had insurance for their workers (they didn’t; they lied).
And lastly, the carpenter isn’t trying to extort money from anyone. His medical bills have been 6 figures. He has lost out on 6 figure jobs as a result of the injury. And Barbra and her brother-in-law’s construction company fail to take responsibility for FAILING to provide their “employees” with insurance and maintain a safe environment (we aren’t talking about a hole in the ground here… we are talking about falling 15-20 feet into a ditch because someone moved the stairs!)
I’m sorry you automatically assume every plaintiff is trying to extort money. But I’m even more sorry you falsely report information!
